Training model for the auricular reconstruction acc. to MagritzMEDICON has developed this special training model for the auricular reconstruction in co-operation with Dr. Ralph Magritz (Clinic for ENT-, Head-, Neck-Surgery Prosper-Hospital, Recklinghausen, Germany). The plastic-surgical reconstruction of heavy dysplastic auricles, nonexisting auricles or auricles lost by an accident or a tumor operation, is nowadays mainly done by using rib cartilage. The outcome of a successful ear reconstruction depends essentially on the creation of a firm and natural looking auricle skeleton made out of rib cartilage.
The training model according to Magritz is based on the use and treatment of a special silicone, which is similar to rib cartilage in its consistency and elasticity. The model is emulating the skeletal conditions and dimensions of the lower thorax aperture of a young adult, consisting of the cartilaginous parts of the ribs 7 to 9.
