Köln Mouth Gag Set New Instrument-Set for microsurgical repair of children’s cleft palate. In cooperation with Prof. Dr. med. Dr. med. dent. Joachim E. Zöller (Klinik und Poliklinik für MKG und Plastische Gesichtschirurgie Uniklinik Köln) a set of instruments including a new oral retractor was developed for microsurgical functional repair of cleft palates. The slender design of the instruments renders it possible to carry out such operative procedures in small infants younger than 8 months of age.
Advantages Köln Mouth Gag (45.52.31):
• Tooth hooks, curved • Less traumatization of corners of the mouth • Improved visibility
for surgery picture 1: Mouth gag with curved hooks for proper exposition of the operation fi eld. The curved hooks don’t interfere with the incision line at the palate and allow good visualisation of the whole palate and the upper alveolar process.
for surgery picture 2: For mobilisation of the oral and nasal lining a narrow double ended elevator is used as the separation of the palatal artery without any injury is mandatory. (Elevator is positioned behind the palatal artery)
for surgery picture 3: The subperiostal separation and mobilisation of the nasal lining for tension-free suturing is facilitated by a plate shaped Raspatory (pair wise). (Raspatory is inserted cranially of the palatal plate)
for surgery picture 4: For craniodorsal relocation of the soft palate a careful mobilisation of the lateral nasal mucoperiost is facilitated with a corrugated pair wise raspatory. (Raspatory is positioned behind the hard palate)
